Anthony L. Papa, 89

July 26, 1928 - August 18, 2017

Anthony “Sonny” L. Papa, 89, of Lancaster, PA, went home to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on August 18, 2017 with his family by his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony & Mary (Cantanelly) Papa.
A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army. Sonny retired as a lithographer from Amalgamated Lithographers of America. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, horse racing, feeding and caring for needy animals, and spending time with his family. He loved pizza, too! Sonny also loved his granddogs, Lexi & Jeter.
Sonny was the beloved husband and best friend of 48 years to Eleanor S. (Koehler) Papa. Their love for one another was felt by anyone who shared time with them. A love like theirs lasts for all eternity.
He was the cherished father to Jennifer Papa and Mary Knarr, wife of Fred; proud grandfather of Stephen & Kristan Knarr; brother to Jimmy Papa, husband of Ella; and uncle to Marie (Boopie), Johnny, Frankie, Maryanne, and Anthony.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Patty Papa, Dolly Loria, and Minnie Krytusa; and treasured dog Lucky.
He lived in such a way that those who know him but did not know God, will come to know God because they knew him. Sonny will be greatly missed and will always be loved.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
