Anthony G. Stammer, 79

Anthony G. Stammer, 79, of Millersville, passed away at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy, on Friday, May 29, 2015. Born in Lancaster to the late Karl H. Sr. and Dorothy (Lightenberger) Stammer, Tony was the loving husband of Theresa J. (Martell) Stammer, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Tony was a graduate of McCaskey High School and served in the US Navy in both reserves and active duty from 1952 to 1959. Following his honorable discharge, Tony worked as a firefighter for the City of Lancaster Fire Department and earned his Associate’s Degree in Fire Science from HACC. He retired from the fire department in 1985.
Tony was of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed playing golf and was a diehard Phillies and Eagles fan.
In addition to his wife, Theresa, Tony is survived by his sister, Margaret Pineda, wife of Kenneth, of Quarryville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Karl H. Stammer, Jr. and sister, Dorothy Shelley.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with the Rev. Dan Derk officiating. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Tony’s name be made to St. Anne’s Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Ave, Columbia, PA 17512 or to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.

Thersea and family,
So very sorry and sad of knowing Tony’s passing. Tony finaced my first car in 1967 when Dad was against my buying a British, Austin Healey. Hard worker always as he was a good mentor for me in getting through the years at K&L. You two were just so cute together. Aunt Tessie. We are so sorry for the passing of Uncle Tony. I will cherish the many memories of him when you visited us all over the world. I can definitely say Uncle Tony had a impact on how my life has turned out by helping others. We pray for you during this time and that your great memories will carry you through this period.
