Anneliese E.A. Martin, of Millersville, passed away on November 26, 2023. She was born on September 18, 1933, in Germany, and her journey through life was marked by resilience, love, and a commitment to family and community.
Anneliese made her way to the United States in 1955, where she embraced the opportunity for a new life and became a proud American citizen in 1959. For 29 years, Anneliese was the devoted wife of Miles V. Martin. Although their paths diverged, the impact of their shared experiences endured.
Anneliese’s professional life was marked by dedication and passion. She worked for four years at Hamilton Watch, followed by another four years at K D Tools. Anneliese poured her heart and soul into her culinary craft, creating a sense of home and belonging for all who visited. Anneliese lent her recipe for potato pancakes to Lancaster Liederkranz which they still use today. She also cowrote a recipe book which featured many of her delicious recipes.
Anneliese is survived by her son Henry Martin in Texas, her nephew Robert Leed, her brother Norbert Joerz husband of Barbel and Marget Koch, both in Germany, and her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Anneliese is preceded in her passing by her daughters Susan Lynn Wood and Sonya Jane Neff, her twin sister Lydia Leed and older sister Helga Gross Herbert, and by her life partner Joe Kirchner.
Anneliese will be put to rest alongside her daughter at Saint Joseph’s New Roman Catholic Cemetery, 175 Charles Rd, Lancaster, PA 17603, on Saturday December 2, 2023, at 10am. To leave an online

I was the kitchen trustee at the Liederkranz for several years and had the great honor to work with Anneliese. I quickly came to appreciate how strong willed she was! Her dedication to the club was remarkable. Her food was outstanding and authentically German. She has been and will continue to be missed.
