Anna C. Childs, 86

Anna C. Childs, 86, of Lancaster passed away on Tuesday, April 02, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Palo Alto, PA she was the daughter of the late Harry F. and Bertha (Pfeiffer) Thomas. She was married to William J. Childs for 60 years.

She was a graduate of Pottsville High School and went onto work for the Bell Telephone Co. in Pottsville for many years and then for the former Community Hospital in Lancaster, retiring after 17 years of service.

Anna was a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lancaster where she took part in the senior group. She enjoyed bowling, knitting and crocheting.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Bruce J. Childs, husband of Tawyna M. of Centre Hall, PA, Thomas W. Childs, husband of Stephanie M, William G. Childs, husband of Francine and Craig M. Childs, companion of Louis A., all of Lancaster. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 5 step-grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild, and brother, Ralph E. Thomas of Palo Alto, PA. She was preceded in death by her six siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30AM on Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St, Lancaster, PA with Rev. Daniel Mitzel as Celebrant. A visitation will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Friday from 10-11AM. Interment in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Anna’s memory to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at the above address or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Dr, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
