Alverta D. Hossler, 94

Alverta D. Hossler, 94, of Lancaster, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 28, 2019, while a resident at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster. Born on December 11, 1924, in Berks County, she was the daughter of the late George and Evia Schaeffer. Alverta was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Stoe, and was the devoted wife of the late Harry Hossler, Jr., with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage at the time of his passing.
Early on, Alverta worked for the RCA Corp., retiring after 15 years of service. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Columbia, where she served by helping with the Strawberry Festival, Rummage Sales and Easter Egg making. She enjoyed family gatherings and was blessed to have many friends.
Alverta is survived by her son, Dike S. Stoe of Lancaster, and her sister Betty Cerio and her husband Vinnie of Florida. Also surviving is her grandson, Dike R. Stoe and her granddaughter, Kelly Lawrence. She leaves behind five beloved great-grandchildren, Courtney Bowers, Aleah and Morgan Stoe, and Jenna and Ryan Lawrence; and a great-great-grandson, Isaiah Lawrence. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her sisters, Viola Aston, wife of Richard, and Dorothy O’Brien, wife of Edward; her beloved daughter-in-law, Cheryl Stoe; and her best friend of 70 years, Jane Fritz.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 10:00 AM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 North George Street, Millersville, PA 17551, where the family will receive guests beginning at 9:30 AM. Alverta’s final resting place will be at Conestoga Memorial Park, which will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alverta’s memory may be offered to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 340 Locust Street, Columbia, PA 17512-0096.

To All
Sorry for your loss. I was trying to get to the funeral but had car trouble and didn’t get a ride in time to make it to the funeral. It has been a long time since I have seen some of you. My memories are of the hossler picnics when they used to be at Mumma’s Park. Love to All.
