Alma G. McMahon, 88

September 06, 2021

Alma G. McMahon, 88, of East Millinocket, ME, recently of Lititz, PA, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at Brethren Village, Lititz, PA. Alma was born in Å i Lofoten, Norway. Her parents were the late Hilmar and Gjertine (Jensen) Thuv.

Alma was married to Michael McMahon Sr. until his passing in 2006.

Alma met her husband in Norway, while he was serving in the United States Air Force. She spoke often about the 11 moves in 14 years that the family made while Mac finished out his career.

Alma knitted (her sweaters!), embroidered (her tablecloths!), cared for her husband and children, while continually putting down roots for the family amidst all of those 11 moves.

She will be missed by her daughter Tine, wife of Eric Mackay, of New Holland, PA, grandchildren; Sarah Shinn, of Dover, NH, Hannah McMahon, of Dover, NH, and Adam McMahon, of Yuma, AZ, a great grand-child; Colin Shinn and her special cat, Minerva. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Sr., her son, Michael Jr., and 7 siblings.

Services and interment will be held sometime in the Spring of 2022 at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alma’s memory may be made to Brethren Village, Good Samaritan Fund, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 or to Mulligan Animal Rescue, 129 Bell Avenue, Mount Royal, NJ 08061.

Condolences to the Family

Alma was part of our Overseas Wives family here in Maine for many years and we would often enjoy the delicious Norwegian sweets she would bring to our get-togethers.  She was unassuming and had strength of character. We really missed her when she moved away but I always enjoyed the telephone conversations we had to stay in touch.  Heartfelt condolences to her lovely family.  You are all in our thoughts during this sad and difficult time.  Liz Marshall

Ronnie and I were so sorry to hear your sad words that your mother had pass away. You have now joined the families that have lost a Father, Mother and Brother. You will now find it so difficult to enter that date in your family file, it will be painful. Your Mom was the last spouse of you dad’s generation of McMahon’s. My Uncle Mike sure picked a lovely lady for a wife. We are sure they are back together again. Jim and Ronnie
