Alexander Hupfeld, 25
September 20, 2018
Alexander Hupfeld, 25, of Ventura, CA, formerly of Lancaster, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 20, 2018, as the result of a tragic car accident. Born in New York City, he was the son of Bjork and Jackie Gioconda Hupfeld. Alex lived in Warsaw, Poland for 10 years, before moving to North Carolina with his family, where he for two years attended middle school and first year of high school. In his sophomore year, he moved, with his family, to Lancaster and enrolled in Manheim Township where he excelled in football and became the captain of the football team and graduated with honors in 2011.
He went on to college, first at F&M in Lancaster but transferred to Portland State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s Degree with honors in Mechanical Engineering in 2016. Alex worked for Del-West Engineering for the past year and a half where he rose quickly to the level of Sr. Engineer and worked on the development of robotics.
Alex fought hard for social justice and opposed inequality and was also a champion of environmental causes. In addition to his love of football and the New York Giants, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed snowboarding, camping, and cycling. Alex also enjoyed traveling the world, making new friends wherever he went.
In addition to his parent, Alex is survived by his brother, Johannes Hupfeld, of Portland, OR; paternal grandmother, Birthe Hupfeld, of Denmark and maternal grandmother, Daisy Bhatti, of New York; aunts: Randi Christensen, wife of Jesper, and Lorena Rivera; and his girlfriend of five years, Becka Brien, of Ventura, CA.
At 7PM, Friday evening, September 28, 2018 the Manheim Township Football Team will honor Alex’s life before the game. All are welcome to attend.
Sunday, September 30, 2018, family and friends will be received from 1PM to 5PM, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
Funeral Services for Alex will be held at 11AM, Monday, October 1, 2018 with Rev. Daniel F.X. Powell officiating. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 10AM until the start of the service. Interment will follow at Witness Park, 419 Pierson Road, Lititz PA 17543.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alex’s memory may be made to https://www.gofundme.com/honor-of-alex, to dedicate a tree at the cemetery in Alexander’s honor due to his love of nature. Any excess funds will be donated to animal rescue, a cause very dear to Alexander.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hupfeld,
This is George Benson, Alex’s fourth grade teacher at the American School of Warsaw. I just received the news today about Alex’s passing. I am so, so saddened. Alex was a wonderful boy. I’m looking at a picture of him right now with his classmates and my assistant Mrs. Kasia. I am so sorry for your loss… and for the loss for all of us. Alex was such a positive force in everyone’s life. The smile in his fourth grade picture is the same smile I see in the wonderful pictures in the video tribute here. My heart reaches out to you. I am still here in Warsaw, with my Polish wife and our two daughters, now teaching second grade and my assistant is…. Mrs. Kasia…for the first time since 2002. I am thinking of you and holding you close in my thoughts and prayers. With Love, George Benson
