Tom, I know I didn’t really get to speak with you personally because I am just not around ECH much any more being part time, but I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear about your loss of Alex.  We should never have to bury our kids, and it just tore my heart out to hear what you and your family had to go through.  I will continue to pray for Gods peace as you deal with this terrible loss and wish you well as you endeavor to heal from this.  God Bless.  Don Cassano

Dear Dr. Renz and Family,
There is so little one can say to ease the pain and grief you must be feeling now… but still we try.  As a mother, my heart grieves with you at the loss of your beloved son, Al.  I did not know him, but I have no doubt that he was raised with a compassion for others and a joy for life. Hold onto each other and keep the many wonderful memories of your son close to your hearts. Be comforted knowing others are thinking of you. May God grant you peace.

Dear Dr. & Mrs Renz, our hearts are sad for you since we heard about the loss of your son, Al~there are no words that we can say to take your pain away! We are praying for you~and as the song says “Does Jesus care when my heart is pained, too deeply for mirth and song. . .As the burdens press, and the cares distress, and the way grows weary and long?  Does Jesus care when I’ve said good~bye to the dearest on earth to me. . .And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks, is it aught to Him?  Does He see?  O yes, He cares, I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief. . .When the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Saviour cares”!  Tho we don’t understand why this tragedy happened, we want to say “we care”, and we have always appreciated your caring, Dr. Renz, thru our “hip replacement surgeries”!! God has blessed you with “a wonderful personality”, and your son must have been following in your footsteps, being a third year medical student, etc.~we know your loss is very great!! With loving sympathy, Christy & Arlene Becker

Dear Renz Family,
You may not remember me, but I was one of Al’s “little friends” in preschool–Kristina “Krissy” Kantner. We did not keep in touch after high school, but I have very fond memories of Al and am crying as I remember how much he made others feel cared for, even from a young age. He had such a great heart. When I go home for Christmas, I will rewatch my birthday parties from when Al and I were pals. He was so eager to swing at the pinata, yet he cheered everyone else on first as he awaited his turn; always a gentleman. Thank you for raising a kind and thoughtful son. He is truly missed by many, many people. I am praying that the passage of time will bring healing to your hearts and that the memories of Al’s life will be with you always.
Warm regards,
Kristina (Kantner) Garcia
