Albert Rostolsky, 62

January 17, 2024

On January 17, 2024, Albert Rostolsky, 62, of Lancaster, PA passed away suddenly at his warehouse in Mt. Joy, PA. Albert was born in 1962 in Lancaster City, PA to the late Albert Sr. and Margaret Rostolsky.

From an early age, Albert had a passion for travel, fueled in part by his mother Margaret, who had taken him on numerous cruises, many of which before the age of 10. Albert’s travels took him all over the globe, from Mexico City in 1993, to Thailand, and to his latest trip to San Francisco in May of ’23 where he got to share it with his children Katy, A.J. and Aaron. He continued cruising throughout his life, highlighted by such notable cruises as the 1975 Thanksgiving cruise on the Rotterdam out of NYC with Mother and Maurice, the 1985 Seth Cruise with the Rostolsky’s and the Valentine’s, and the 2019 Rostolsky Family Thanksgiving Cruise.

Albert grew up in Lancaster, PA on Union St. where he graduated from McCaskey High class of ’80. As a teen, Albert started a bicycle repair business, and he kept that love for bikes alive throughout his life. He has a vast collection of bicycles, from retro two-seaters to the latest road bikes. He also had a passion for photography, especially black and white, and he would be seen taking his camera with him wherever he went.

Albert truly loved his work and touched many lives through the recycling business, Rostolsky Recycling. If he wasn’t on the road delivering barrels or totes, you could find him working alongside his employees, always with a smile on his face.
On some weekend nights, Albert may have been seen dressed to the nines, driving through town in one of his vintage cars such as the burnt orange 1973 Mercury Cougar convertible, his red 1974 Ford Galaxie or one his many Lincolns. He was an avid car collector, especially the early 70’s vintage vehicles of his youth. If you were lucky enough to ride along with Albert on one of his drives, he made you feel special and alive.

Albert will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his contagious, roaring laugh, his giving and forgiving nature and his positivity no matter the situation. He always said, “The show must go on”. Sadly, this show will not be the same without one of its brightest stars.

He is survived by his loving children Brittany Carpenter, Lillian Shilling, Katy Margaret Rostolsky, Albert Junior Rostolsky and Aaron Rostolsky; his beloved significant other Heather Defreitas; his grandchildren Jaylanies Torres, Sofia Torres, and Daniel Torres Jr; his brother Maurice Rostolsky; his nephews Marcus Rostolsky, Zachary Vallentine and niece Stephanie Rostolsky. Along with his parents he is preceded in his passing by sister Santuza Vallentine, and a nephew Seth Vallentine.

Family, friends, and clients of Albert are invited to a Graveside Service on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 11am at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery new section behind Mellinger Mennonite Church 1916 Lincoln Hwy E. Lancaster, PA 17602. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Albert’s honor can be made to the American Heart Association.

One of my family members is on a cruise  and it git me thinking of Albert and how he talked so fondly of cruises. This was way back in middle school. I went through middle and high school with Albert. So I thought I would look him up after all these years, only to find his obituary.  Albert always made me laugh. He was truly one of the great ones. I’m sorry for your loss. I’m glad to hear that he had a great life. Thanks for the laughs and friendship  Albert. Your forever friend, Dave Atkins

Very sad to hear about Cousin Albert’s passing.  I have many fond memories of “Little” Abert  as a kid growing up and playing in our neighborhood.   I recall him as having  a big heart and always a winning smile to match.
