Albert L. Sabatine, 84
Albert L. Sabatine, 84, of Lancaster, died at Lancaster General Hospital on Thursday, May 3, 2007 and went to be with the Lord and his wife, Esther.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Corso) Sabatine. In 1947 he married the late Esther M. DiLeo Sabatine, who died in 2005.
Albert was a 1940 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and the New Jersey Locksmith Institute. He was an Army veteran of World War II, holding the rank of staff sergeant, serving in the South Pacific Campaign. He was a self-employed tile and marble contractor and retired from the profession after 55 years.
He also instructed the tile and marble trade in Harrisburg PA.
Albert was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. John Neumann Council 12532 where he was chairman to help form this council and a former member of Lancaster Council 867. He was also a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the Santa Maria Assembly, having served as a Faithful Navigator for 2 terms. He received the Fourth Degree Merit Award in 1979. The Supreme Master appointed him Master of the Fifth PA District in September 1984, which he served until 1988. Albert also received the Knight of the year Award in 1963. In 1981 he received the Supreme Masters Award . He also received the Knight in Shinning Award in 1995. Albert served as chairman on the order’s program “Tomb of the Unborn Child” in the Diocese of Harrisburg. Albert was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 34 and Travelers Protective Association. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church where he was a volunteer at various church functions and activities.
Albert enjoyed woodworking, and marble crafts, and reading national history books and articles.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia M. Sabatine of Lancaster, two brothers, Lewis Sabatine, husband of Amelia (Dolly), and Philip A. Sabatine, husband of Josephine, all of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a brother, Augustus J. Sabatine.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA.
