Alan David Emerick, Sr., 79
Alan David Emerick, Sr., 79, of Mountville was welcomed into his eternal home, surrounded by his loving family, on January 27, 2013.
“Al” was born December 2nd, 1933 (though many a nurse would tell you he stated it was 1492.) He married Alma Anna Baumbach who preceded him in death on January 19th, 1990, and with whom
he is now celebrating in the arms of the Lord.
Alan is survived by three children and a sister: Carol Sue Deroba, wife of Richard Deroba, Danville, Pa., Alan David Emerick, Jr. husband of, Jill Renninger Emerick, and Barbara Brown, wife of Edward Brown, Jr, and sister Yvonne Knight, wife of Terry Knight, of Jacksonville, Fl.
Al was employed at Lancaster Press for 20 years, and Wickersham Printing for 20 years as well. A Master Printer, his skills and expertise were in demand well into his retirement. A lifelong learner and avid reader, his hunger for knowledge rarely waned. A life long conservative, he never wavered in support of causes dear to him as those who know his vanity tag will attest.
A consummate family, man he recognized his children’s aptitudes and encouraged and supported pursuits that utilized and exploited those strengths.
Preceding him in death, along with his beloved wife, was his brother, Jim Emerick of Punta Gorda, Fl. He is survived by five grand children: Mark Deroba, Todd Deroba, husband of Nadine Iwanski Deroba, Kelly
Lapp, wife of Kevin Lapp, Allison Brown, and Amy Brown. His grandchildren fondly remember weekends spent with their grandpa, playing the left right game, and the time he took to impart his wisdom to them. Additionally, great granddaughters Korinne and Khloe Lapp survive Al.
Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. The will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
Friends will be received on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 11AM to 12 Noon at the Charles

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Emerick through my friendship with Jill and Alan. He was really working on his health at that time and was doing well. Mr. Emerick was very funny, a "pistol" really. I enjoyed his humor and his dry wit with Alan Jr. I know how much he will be missed. I have been praying for Mr. Emerick, and for all of his family & friends.
