Adam Lee Mansfield

November 29, 2019 - March 18, 2020

Adam Lee Mansfield, 3 months, passed away at Hershey Medical Center on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. Born on November 29, 2019 in Hershey, PA he was the son of Jennifer Lynn (Taylor) and Ashley Kendig Mansfield.

Adam was full of personality. He loved music, being read to and giggling at his Mommies. Adam loved his cuddle time and spent as much time as possible in Jen and Ashley’s arms. He captured the hearts of all who met him, including family, friends and his NICU family. As a micro preemie Adam fought hard and loved even harder. Adam will be missed for his beautiful heart and genuine smile.

Adam is survived by his mothers: Jennifer Lynn Mansfield and Ashley Kendig Mansfield; his aunt and uncle Susan and Steve Jones of Westbrook, ME; his uncle C. Kendig Mansfield of Woodbridge, VA and his 2 cousins: Riley Jones and Phoebe Jones; his grandparents: Michael and Donna Taylor of East Greenwich, RI and Calvin and Diane Mansfield of Hampton, VA; and his great-grandmother Joan Taylor of Warwick, RI as well as his puppy Cruz’n.

Adam’s family is overwhelmed by the love and support they have received from everyone throughout his short life. There is no doubt that he was truly loved by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the Hershey NICU and the doctors, respiratory therapists, and nurses for their compassion and care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, NICU, 500 University Dr, Hershey, PA 17033.

Interment will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Jen and Ashley: Adam was a beautiful part of your life and he was loved dearly.  You were amazing parents who spent every minute with him, loving and supporting him. He was lucky to have for for those 3 months.  He is now watching over you as you had watched over him. God bless!!

Jenn and Ashley,
Although I never cared for Adam during his stay in the NICU, I always heard about how he was such a sweet boy. I’m so sorry to hear about his passing. Prayers for both of you.

There are no words, other than to say we love you and we will be there for you if / when you need us. All you have to do is say the word. I have found comfort in the following passage when my Dad passed away – I hope you will too:
   Parable of Immortality

I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads his white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. He is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last he hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, “There he goes! ” Gone where? Gone from my sight . . . that is all. He is just as large in mast and hull and spar as he was when he left my side and just as able to bear his load of living freight to the place of destination. His diminished size is in me, not in him. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, “There he goes!” there are other eyes watching him coming . . . and other voices ready to take up the glad shout . . . “Here he comes!”

Jenn and Ashley,
I am so sorry for your loss.  Prayers for peace and comfort during this difficult time. It was a pleasure to care for Adam and to talk with you in the NICU.  He is now at peace. He is healthy and in the arms of Jesus.  It is not goodbye, but until you meet again.
