Ada Cooper Richards, 97

November 12, 2017

Ada Hydrick Cooper Richards, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 12, 2017 at Brethren Village in Lititz, Pennsylvania at the age of 97. Born in Larksville, Pennsylvania, she was the second of eight children of Hezekiah and Emily Bolton Cooper. She was a devoted wife to Frank J. Richards for over 50 years before his passing in 1992.

She is survived by her son, Frank J. Richards, Jr. (Mary), three grandchildren, Sarah Lamperski (Blaine), Peter Richards (Lindsey), and Scott Richards, and two great-grandchildren, Ezra Lamperski and Reuben Richards. She is also survived by her brothers William Cooper and Benjamin Cooper (Grace), and her sisters, Marion (“Janie”) Huber and Carol Cooper, along with nieces and nephews, including Joyce Borland Kocis (Michael), who was like a daughter to her, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her sisters and brothers-in-law Beatrice and Charles Borland and Lillian and Frank Guerin, her brother and sister-in-law James and Irene Cooper, her sister-in-law Dorothy Cooper, and her brother-in-law Elwood Huber.

Ada was a kind and generous soul who dedicated her life to her family. She was fiercely independent, and lived in her own home until shortly before her passing. She doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and adored her extended family, taking every opportunity to spend time with them. She was a talented cook and was always sure to have ample baked goods available for visiting family. In recent years, she particularly looked forward to her annual birthday celebration, where family and friends would gather in Williamsport to honor her with good food and entertainment in the form of original music performed by Frank, Peter, and Lindsey. She will be dearly missed.

Friends will be received on Monday, November 20, 2017 at The Peter Herdic House, 411 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, Pennsylvania, from 10:00AM-10:30AM, with the Celebration of Ada’s life to follow at 10:30AM and interment in Montoursville Cemetery, Montoursville, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ada’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20900-6011 or www.alz.org/donate.
