Estella Hagmann, 93

Estella M. (Fry) Hagmann, 93, died peacefully on Monday, August 1, 2022 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lancaster, PA, Estella was the daughter of the late Eleanor M. (Steinwandel) and Charles E. Fry and the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Hagmann with whom she shared 37 years of marriage.
Estella loved spending time with her family. Her kindness was beyond words and she was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was a great listener and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Friends and family describe Estella as selfless, thoughtful, positive, and supportive. She had a wonderful wit and sense of humor. Her inner strength was an inspiration to others. Whenever she spoke of her family, there was a twinkle in her eye, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her life was marked by generosity and compassion, truly a life well lived.
In her spare time, Estella enjoyed word puzzles as well as trying her luck with scratch off lottery tickets and the occasional trip to the casino. She had an undeniable sweet tooth that she passed on to her children. She loved her ice cream, along with cookies, especially sandtarts, chocolates, and Achenbach long johns.
Estella will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Diane Hawthorne, wife of William of Gordonville; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Snyder, wife of Jeffrey of Manheim and Melissa Boagey, wife of James of Springfield, VA; her great-grandchildren, Austin and Makena Snyder and Liam Boagey as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Debra Parrish in 2019,and her four sisters, Arlene Winters, Patricia Carvell, Nancy Carello, and Joanne Gammache. Her mother died when Estella was only 12 years old.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Estella’s memory may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17604.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Diane, I’m so sorry for you and your families loss. You often spoke lovingly about your Mom. She may not have won the lottery but you won the lottery in life with her as your Mom. You have wonderful fun memories to remember her by.
