Mariann Bishop, 59

Mariann Bishop, 59, of Lancaster, PA, died Friday at home from delayed complications of treatment for breast cancer, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was the wife of Larry W. Bishop, with whom she celebrated 35 years of marriage this past November 13th. Born in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edgar A. and Margaret M. Crowley Gould.

Mariann had retired from Millersville University in April of 2006, working in the Alumni Services Office.

She was an avid supporter of MU athletics, was a member of MUBA, served on the SOAR To Greatness Scholarship Committee, and with Knowledge and Hope for the spreading of awareness of breast cancer in Lancaster County. Mariann had been active in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life for the past 14 years, and had bowled in the Sparemakers Bowling League.

She attended St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son: Brett A. married to Lori A. Bishop of South Bend, IN; a daughter: Karen R. married to Doug Hilton of Maytown PA; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister: Jane M.  married to James McGarrity of Middletown PA; a brother Lawrence E. Gould of York Haven, PA; and two brothers-in-law: Jeffrey A.  married to Cheryl Bishop of Jupiter, FL and Patrick J.  married to Penny Bishop of Idaho Falls, ID. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Liebetrau and a granddaughter, Ashleigh Hilton.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10-11:30AM at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603, with the Memorial Mass to follow at 11:30AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers, making contributions in Mariann’s memory to the MU Cancer Connection Relay For Life Team, payable to ACS, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA  17603. Arrangements by the Charles F.
