Josephine B. Curtis, 78
Josephine B. Curtis, 78, of Pleasure Rd., Lancaster, died Wednesday June 13, 2007 at her home.
Born in East Mauch Chunk, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Anna McTague Bing. She was the wife of the late George J. Curtis who died in 1993. They celebrated 44 years of marriage together.
Josephine was a waitress for Garvin’s, Watt & Shand, and Bon-Ton Restaurants for over 20 years. A devoted member for 39 years at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, she volunteered with their brown bag lunch program. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church for 15 years before moving to St. Anne’s. Josephine loved to travel especially looking at old churches and relics. She also enjoyed day trips to Atlantic City and gardening in her yard.
Surviving are her children; John H. Curtis, husband of Christine, of Charlotte, NC, Gerald P. Curtis, husband of Elizabeth, of East Prospect, PA, Gary D. Curtis, husband of Marianne, of Mountville, and Jean Ann Sapone, of Lancaster; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Melissa, Bryan, Leanne, Anthony, John, George, and Lillie; her brother, Eugene Bing, and her sister, Margaret McClafferty.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Curtis and her brothers, Thomas and Gerald Bing.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday June 18, 2007 from St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 929 N. Duke St., Lancaster, beginning at 11AM. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz from 7-9 PM and again on Monday from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 8:30PM. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Josephine’s memory to St. Anne’s Church.
