Virginia Pearce Monical, 94

Virginia Pearce Monical, 94, of Ephrata Manor, 250 Parkview Heights Rd., Ephrata, and formerly of Millersville, died of natural causes Tuesday evening at Ephrata Community Hospital. She was the wife of the late Urban L. Monical, an Industrial Arts Professor at Millersville University who died in June, 2000.

Mrs. Monical was born in Jerseyville, IL, the daughter of the late Grover and Mary Barnett Pearce. She graduated from Jerseyville High School and attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. She taught at the Prairie Union One Room Country School near Jerseyville.

Virginia was the secretary in the former Millersville University Film Library and was a member of the University Campus Club.

She was a member of Zion Church of Millersville where she had taught elementary Sunday school classes and was Treasurer of Women of Zion. She had been on the Church Consistory and sang in the choir, as she later continued in the choir at Ephrata Manor.

She enjoyed crocheting baby booties for Church members, family, and friends for many years. She, with her husband, designed and made their Christmas cards for 52 years.

Surviving is her son, William L. Monical of Staten Island, NY, two grandsons: Philip and Paul, and a great granddaughter Abby.

Friends will be received on Friday from 1-2PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA, with the funeral service to follow at 2PM. Interment in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her memory to the American Cancer Society, Attn. Relay For Life, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
