Peter J. Conlon, 82
Peter J. Conlon, 82, of Conestoga, PA, and a native and former 58-year resident of Staten Island, died Wednesday at the Heart of Lancaster Medical Center in Lititz.
Born in Staten Island, he was the son of the late Peter and Rose Conlon. He was the husband of the late Alice Berk Conlon who died in 1988 and the late Helen Barrett Conlon who died in 2004.
Peter had served as a patrolman for the New York City Police Dept. for 23 years, retiring in 1973. While with the Police Dept. he was a past President of the Department’s Holy Name Society, a member of the Police Benevolent Assn., and active in the 1013 Club for retired officers.
He is a member of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church in Lancaster, PA.
Peter was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater with the 44th Infantry, Easy Company, 71st Infantry as a corporal. He was in the Battle of the Bulge, and received the Combat Infantry Badge and a Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
He was a member of the Emerald Club and the Steuban Club.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Rosemary Conlon McCarthy of Houston TX, and Alice married to Robert (Bob) Adams of Delta, PA; a son, Peter married to Nancy Conlon of Arlington TX; and a brother, George Conlon of Staten Island, NY. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 21st at 10AM at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA. Please omit flowers, making contributions in his memory to Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076.
