Robert C. Myers, 80
Robert C. "Peanuts" Myers, 80, of 130 N. Ann Street, Lancaster, PA, died Friday, March 10, 2006, at Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Noah C. and Emma Snyder Myers. Peanut was married to Johanna E. (Hanny) Kempf Myers for 46 years.
Mr. Myers was a cashier at the A&P Food Store in Lancaster and Downingtown for 33 years, retiring in 1981. He was a 1943 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School where was on the wrestling team.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II and was in the Battle of the Bulge and the Ghost War. He was a life time member of the VFW Post 7284, American Legion Post #34 and the Artisan Club. He played soccer, softball, golf and basketball. Mr Myers was bat boy for the former Lancaster Red Rose Baseball Team. In his later years, he was known as the Candy Man, because he always had his pockets full of peppermint and cinnamon candy which he passed out to everyone.
Surviving besides his wife, is a niece, Linda Flosser wife of Robert C. Galligan, two nephews, Kenneth R. Flosser companion of Cynthia Sharpe, Nathan husband of Sheryl Kliewer, two great nephews, Ryan Flosser, Joshua Galligan, three great nieces, Rose Marie Flosser, Alisha kliewer, Alexis Kliewer, cousins, Rosemary S. Gramola, Robert C. husband of Karen Gramola, Pamela wife of Timothy Cunningham, Melissa wife of Christopher Hess. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian M. Myers Flooser, Jacqueline E. Myers Kliewer.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
