George K. Monahas, 55
January 18, 2026
George K. Monahas, 55, of Landisville, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Born September 4, 1970, in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of Koula (Samaras) Monahas and the late Harry K. Monahas.
George was the beloved husband of Jody (Smith) Monahas, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage, love, and partnership. Together they built a life centered on family, friendships, and making the most of every moment.
A 1989 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, George went on to attend Millersville University and later graduated from Stevens Trade School. He worked professionally in fiber optics and pole climbing with Frontier Communications.
George was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. He enjoyed life fully and had many interests, including cigars, playing soccer, running track and field. He played soccer semi-professionally on the Lancaster Spartans which was coached by his Dad. He loved camping, visiting the family home in Lewes, Delaware, and spending time with his friends, known fondly as the Tall Pines Crew. Known for his energy and personality, George also had a passion for break dancing, something many will remember with a smile.
To know George was to be welcomed into his inner circle, where he shared his time, energy, and traditions. For someone who could not sit still, a cigar afforded time to savor among friends, with lots of laughs, stories and rare stillness. As you remember George, picture him in eternity, watching over each of us with reminders to lighten up, care for your people and squeeze in some fun at every chance.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lewes, DE, and the Marietta American Legion.
In addition to his wife and mother, George is survived by his brothers, Mike Monahas of Landisville and Stephen Monahas of Lancaster; his brothers-in-law, Eric P. Smith and wife Susan, and Curt L. Smith; his mother- and father-in-law, Barb and Paul Smith of Mount Joy; his nephew, Paul Monahas; and his nieces, Parker and Riley Smith. He is also survived by several aunts: Litsa of Lancaster, Christine of New York, Koula of Virginia, Eleftheria of Texas, Desi of New York, and Mary of Arizona; and his uncle, John, husband of Tina, of Philadelphia as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.
A Trisagion service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Philoptohos Society, 64 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603.

George was such a kind soul and I truly believe he would do anything for anybody with the mindset of just paying it forward. In addition to his kindness and heart of gold his sense of humor was like no other. He made me and countless others laugh uncontrollably!! I hope he is up there around a fire smoking his cigars and making everyone smile and laugh!!!
