Maureen Patricia “Mo” Reinert, 56

December 26, 2025

Maureen Patricia “Mo” Reinert, 56, of Manor Township, passed away on Friday, Dec. 26, after a years-long battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She died peacefully at home, with her devoted husband of 24 years, Jed, beside her, and her beloved dog Daisy in her lap.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Richard Leary and Marie Leary.

Mo graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a degree in government. Later, she studied computer science at Millersville University.

For the last 20 years, she worked as a web developer for LNP. She always prided herself on excelling as a woman in male-dominated spaces such as computer science, and she had a reputation among her colleagues as a fast, accurate troubleshooter who routinely found unorthodox solutions to tricky problems. She was extremely intelligent, and never afraid to voice her opinion to anyone she felt needed to hear it.

Mo was a creative and talented knitter, whose legacy lives on in countless custom pieces she created for friends and family — from baby blankets bearing the knitted likenesses of cartoon or video game characters, to bespoke stuffed animals, to scarves that reveal secret patterns via glow-in-the-dark yarn.

She also made pieces for herself, and in 2023 a knitted dress she made won the Best in Show award at the Interweave Yarn Fest at the Lancaster County Convention Center.

Mo was an avid player of Dungeons & Dragons, and her characters, logical yet feisty rogues, will long be remembered among her fellow players.

She was a fervent fan of Star Wars and Disney, and also loved comic books, video games, and collecting.

Mo enjoyed traveling, both in the United States and abroad. She and Jed took frequent vacations to Walt Disney World, which she thought of as her “happy place.” She particularly loved the Haunted Mansion and Galaxy’s Edge.

She was deeply compassionate, and strove through charitable giving to fight against the injustices of the world.

Mo was preceded in death by her beloved corgi, Merry Puppins, who surely awaits her at the rainbow bridge.

She is survived by her husband, Jed; another corgi, Daisy; her mother, Marie Leary, of County Down, Northern Ireland; her brother, Sean Leary, married to Pawinee Tongbai-Leary of Thailand, and their daughter, Rose; and a large extended family.

Mo’s interest in science led her to choose to donate her body for medical research.

It was her wish to not have a memorial service or funeral, but a private dinner in her honor will be held for close friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her honor to Pet Pantry of Lancaster County or Lancaster County Chooses Love.
