Margaret L. (Gula) Enoch, 90

December 08, 2025

Margaret L. (Gula) Enoch, 90, of Landisville, PA, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Landis Homes. Born in Ogle¬town, PA, she was the daughter of the late Helen Szczygiel and Peter Gula. She was the devoted wife of the late John M. Enoch, who preceded her in death in 1979.

Margaret lived a purposeful life with service to those less fortunate and embracing friendship at every turn, always available to lend a hand or simply listen. A faithful member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Margaret dedicated 35 years to teaching Sunday School and nurturing the faith of younger generations. For over 30 years, she generously served as Treasurer of the Philoptochos Society, an organization committed to aiding the poor. For decades she enjoyed fellowship in the Daughter’s of Penelope, always eager to offer her time and leadership.
Prior to retirement, she worked as an Administrator in the Pennsylvania State Police where she was known for her diligence and commitment to public service. For years she and her husband John owned and operated the Landisville Tavern until 1977.

Margaret’s service extended far beyond her professional roles. She served as treasurer of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 2540 for over 20 years. And after retirement she was actively involved with AFSCME Retirees Local 8903. She was deeply proud of her civic engagement and was a member of the PA Voter Hall of Fame, having consecutively voted in every election for over 50 years.

Margaret was most happy hosting holidays with warmth, ensuring her home was always filled with family, food, and love. In her home, she was an extraordinary baker and cook, especially known for her Baba bread, nut rolls, apple sauce and halupki. She found joy tending to her flower gardens.

Above all, she delighted in celebrating her grandchildren’s achievements and was always present for sporting events and graduations.

Margaret is survived by her children: Charles “Charlie” P., husband of Pamela, of Landisville; John M., husband of the late Christine, of Lancaster; Matthew C., husband of Joan, of Mount Joy; and Sonya N. Pappas, wife of Gus, of Swarthmore. She was the cherished Baba to ten grandchildren: Joshua Enoch, Jason Enoch, Kyle Enoch, Ryan Enoch, Mark Enoch, Margaret “Maggie” Enoch, Joanna Murphy, Dr. Alexander Pappas, Nicholas Pappas, and Eleni Pappas. She was also Great Baba to eleven great-grandchildren: Teagan, Octavia, Willow, Evan, Anna, Harrison, Kirby, Ramona, Ivy, Elsie, and Bo. She is further survived by her sisters, Helen Havrilak and Pauline Nadonely; her brother-in-law, Nicholas Enoch; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

She was preceded in death by her eight siblings—John, Mary, Joe, Anne, Mike, Peter, Harry, and Danny—and by her beloved daughter-in-law, Christine Enoch.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 64 Hershey Avenue, Lancaster, PA, 17603. A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Philoptochos Society and mailed to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Lancaster, 64 Hershey Ave, Lancaster, PA 17603.
