John M. Kauffman, Jr., 80
November 23, 2025
John M. Kauffman, Jr., 80, of Conestoga, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Mildred (Rice) and John M. Kauffman, Sr. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet Arlene Kauffman, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
A devoted member of New Danville Mennonite Church, John lived out his faith with quiet strength and humility. He was the proud owner of Kauffman Excavating, where he built a reputation as a hardworking, respected businessman who led by example. Many saw him not only as a skilled professional, but as a mentor whose wisdom and guidance made a lasting impact.
John was an avid outdoorsman who found his greatest joy in nature. He loved hunting—especially deer, bear, and turkey—and treasured time spent fishing or retreating to the mountains to relax at his cabin. He also enjoyed sports throughout his life, playing softball, bowling, and gathering with friends for spirited pinochle games.
Those who knew John will remember his humble spirit, the respect he earned effortlessly, and the wise, steady presence he offered to family and friends alike.
John is survived by his daughter, Linda Kibodeaux, wife of Allen, of Conestoga; his son, Mike Kauffman, husband of Sarah, of Pequea;

He was very down to earth humble man. I enjoyed listening to his sense of humor. Great outdoors man and a great ball player. (Softball). He will be missed. Whoever is reading this I still would love to watch the videos Mike and I made. 😉 Christopher Matthews
