Steven C. Giberson, 78
November 11, 2025
Steven C. Giberson, 78, of Millersville, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at his residence.
Born and raised in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles Giberson and Dorothy (Hoyer) Kinard. He was the loving husband of Phyllis (Fordney) Giberson.
Steve was a talented and accomplished bass player and piano technician whose love for music shaped his entire life. In his early years, he traveled through the Midwest with a trio, spending time in Terre Haute, Indiana, before returning to Lancaster. Upon his return, he joined the Cabaret Band at the Host Farm, where he played for 17 years and performed as a backup musician for many well-known singers and comedians. It was during his time at the Host that he met the love of his life, Phyllis. The two shared 43 wonderful years of marriage, recently celebrating their anniversary on October 23, 2025. Together, they traveled to over 25 countries, creating countless cherished memories along the way. Steve was not only a gifted musician but also a kind, joyful, and deeply caring person. He loved animals, especially his cats and the squirrels that frequented his backyard. Always smiling and warm-hearted, he was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Steve will be missed more than words can express by his beloved wife Phyllis and all who were fortunate enough to call him a friend.
Friends and family will be received from 10AM to 11AM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Lampeter United Methodist Church, 1101 Village Rd., Lancaster, PA 17602. A Memorial Service will follow beginning at 11AM. Interment is being held privately at the convenience of the family.

Phyllis, I am truly sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. Steve was always very gracious when I came over to practice dance with you and always a warm host at your Halloween parties. It’s been some time since I have seen the both of you and I hope your memories of Steve will give you comfort during this time. My sympathies- Jody White (Jody Killian)

Phyllis,
A warm, compassionate, talented and humble man, Steve reflected kindness toward all he met. The joy you both shared through your marriage spilled over into your approach to life. Tuning our piano so many years ago reminded me of the “violin at the auction- when the violinist began to tune and play the old violin, the music was breathtaking.” Steve could do that with an out of tune piano. Like his life with you, he could lighten a room with his smile. Together you both created beauty. My condolences to you. Phyllis – remember to breathe. Lyn Brubaker

What a great and kind person Steve was. I have fond memories of the exercise class we all took years ago and his visits to tune my piano. I send you many blessings as you journey through this time and know how far reaching Steve’s kindness was . With sympathy , Nancy Zink

Phillis and family, Steve was a really gentle man who I was privilaged to know originally when he played bass guitar for the Host Farm Caberet band and I was on the stage crew. Later when I was starting to promote my cartoon’s and caricatures I continued my friendship with the two of you. I have plans to attend Steve’s service on Saturday December 6th. Phyllis,
I was so sorry to read this… I have good memories of you and Steve being wonderful hosts. I was amazed at all the unique places that you were able to travel together. I really got a charge of Steve telling how a foreigner was willing to trade his camel (I think it was an animal) for you, but Steve declined. You have some wonderful memories. May they be a comfort in such a great loss.
God Bless and keep you in his tender care,
Love, June Shultz

So saddened to see Steve’s obituary today – he had tuned our piano for many years and I still have all of his handwritten receipts that he would leave. We got a bit lazy on the tuning since covid and just had him out earlier this year for the first time since then. I was so glad he was still in business! He was just the same as I remember and I enjoyed catching up with him. And he gave lots of love to our dog Phoenix while he was here. I am so sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear of his passing. I had just recently met Steve, when he came to tune our children’s piano. I greatly enjoyed talking with him and hearing about his adventures as a musician while he was working on our piano. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Oh my gosh, I remember Steve from our days at the Host Farm. He was the young guy(at the time) who played bass in the Dick Hamilton band. I was there working during my high school and college days. I can also attest that Steve did always smile and was a very talented musician. His future wife Phyllis was/is a very nice person
My deepest condolences to the entire family.

I was so sad to read of Steve’s passing, and extend my sincerest condolences to the entire family. I got to know Steve very well when he served as the MT School District’s piano tuner for many years. His easy-going and friendly nature was much-appreciated, and he was definitely the consummate professional in every way!
