J. Randolph “Randy” Schumacher, a dedicated father, loving husband, and innovative businessman, passed away on November 6, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Randy was the son of the late John and Dorthea (Brubaker) Schumacher.
From a young age, Randy embraced the gift of music, beginning his journey as a trumpet player at just six years old. His love for jazz and Christian music led him to play in several bands and churches throughout his life, showcasing his extraordinary talent. An accomplished business owner, Randy built several international enterprises, navigating the complexities of the manufacturing industry with ingenuity and expertise. His proudest moments stemmed from working alongside his son, Kevin, from 1985 to 1999, where their bond deepened during those cherished years.
Randy was not only a successful entrepreneur but also a respected innovator in the semiconductor industry, holding numerous key patents that propelled advancements in technology. His ability to connect with people transcended language barriers; he was multilingual, fluent in German and Italian, and having studied Japanese and Spanish, further illustrating his commitment to understanding and engaging with the world around him.
A proud Army veteran, Randy served in the United States Army. His faith was a cornerstone of his existence; he was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and dedicated many years to nurturing others in their spiritual journeys as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Elder at Brookdale Baptist Church. After moving to Lancaster, Randy became an active member of Calvary Church and brought his musical talents to the church orchestra as a premier trumpet player for many years.
After his retirement, Randy continued his passion for learning and earned a bachelor’s degree in Apologetics from Stanford University, sharing his insights through lectures at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.
Above all he was defined by his unwavering love for his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his desire for them to seek the Lord first in all things. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten by so many who crossed his path.
Randy is survived by his devoted and beloved wife of 69 years, Justine Schumacher of Lancaster; his children: Kim Marie Gardner (wife of Robert) of Santa Rose, CA. and Kevin Scott Schumacher (husband of Karen) of Center Barnstead, NH; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren as well as one brother: Robert James Schumacher of American Fork, UT.
In addition to his parents, Randy is proceeded in death by his brother Thomas Merle Schumacher.
A celebration to honor Randy’s life will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601, beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment will be held privately by the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
