Anthony M. “Tony” Valeski, 74
November 01, 2025
Anthony M. “Tony” Valeski, 74, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Anthony G. and Alberta Valeski.
Tony was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School. After graduation, he began his career as an electrician and spent many dedicated years working for the John Wanamaker Department Store. Each holiday season, he helped bring a touch of Christmas magic to Philadelphia through the store’s iconic light display—work he took great pride in and truly loved.
Tony was easygoing and laid back, described by his daughter as the “fun dad.” He was deeply involved in his daughters’ band program, rarely missing a practice or performance, and he formed lifelong friendships with many of the other band parents. Tony enjoyed connecting with people and could strike up a conversation with anyone.
He appreciated his routine, never missing a weekly get together with friends, and loved taking cruises with his beloved wife, Patricia. Tony had a fondness for pickup trucks and would “surprise” his family with a new one from time to time. A history enthusiast, he was a member of the Friends of Gettysburg, and a loyal fan of all things Philadelphia sports—and the University of Michigan.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Valeski; his daughters Christine Reed, wife of John, and Susan Valeski; and his cherished grandchildren Quinn, Reagan, and Brynlee. He is also survived by his nieces Judith deBullet, wife of Mark, and Nancy Gutierrez, wife of Luis; as well as his sister-in-law Marie Valeski.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Valeski and Mary Valeski.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Catholic Mass celebrating Anthony and his sister Mary Valeski on Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. John Neumann, 601 E Delp Rd, Lancaster, PA 17601 at 11:00 AM. There will be a time of viewing with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private.

Pat, Christine, and Susan, I’m so very sorry for your loss and the loss of my best friend, Tony. I also deeply regret that I was unable to attend the funeral services to say goodbye to him one last time, but I will always treasure the many wonderful and happy times that we all shared together– the band competitions, the Saturday morning coffee times, and Saturday night dinners, the cruises, barbecues, parties, and so many wonderful memories together. May he and Teresa rest in eternal peace .Harry Weaver
