Christopher Louis Carlton, 72
October 30, 2025
Christopher Louis “Chris” Carlton, 72, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025. Born in Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Robert Thomas and Constance (Sautter) Carlton. He was married for over 44 years to his beloved wife Julia P. Carlton.
Chris obtained his bachelor’s degree from Saint Vincent College and worked most recently, and retired from, Ettline Food Service. He also worked for Wilbur Chocolate in Lititz and owned/operated Sundae Best Ice Cream Parlor in Lititz. Chris cherished his family and grandchildren. He was also a talented singer and was a part of the Heritage Chorale. Chris was a gifted cook and baker, loved and appreciated music, enjoyed reading, golfing, and fishing. He was known for being silly, a true gentleman, and the “cool dad”. He and Julia would spend the winters in Vero Beach, FL, and enjoyed traveling to New Jersey. Chris enthusiastically cheered on all Philadelphia sports teams and especially Notre Dame. Most of all, his “Princess Julie” was at the center of his world.
In addition to his wife, Chris is survived by 2 daughters: Meghan Phillips (Ian) and Katherine Carlton (Brian Blank); 2 grandchildren: Walter and Wendy Phillips; sisters: Marianne Carlton and Dorothy Carlton-Herity (Bryan); and nieces and nephews: Ryan, Bobby III, David, Mary, Jimmi, Brian, Connor, Christopher; and seven brothers-in-law and their families. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert T. Carlton, II.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave, Lititz, PA 17543. There will be no visitation prior. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Chris’s name to American Diabetes Association.

Julie,
You may not remmber us – but we have such good memories of over 40 years ago!!!!
Veitch Printing, we kept the parrots when you and Chris went away, and then the Dogwood Golf Tournament!!
I was in touch with Chris when I worked as lunch manager at LCS. We talked on the phone about Enterline but I don’t think I was in his territory, so he never came to the school.
We have such happy memories and I can still hear his laugh. We were not able to attend his service. We were sorry.
We are thinking of you and your girls and trust the Lord to bring you comfort, peace and joy in your memories. We have no address for you so this will have to do.
Our prayers and love, Don and Judi Landis

Our condolences at the passing of a great guy. I seem to recall that in the old days he was also an avid rec basketballer at the Rec Center, and always encouraged others…..even if he never passed them the ball! His good nature will be missed. Dick Nuffort

Christopher Carlton was my uncle. I consider myself very lucky that he was. Every memory I have of him is of a very gentle, kind, and funny man. I always viewed him as a figure of mirth and good cheer. The sort of person this world desperately needs more of. I loved him very much. My heart goes out of Julie, Meghan and Katie. David L Carlton

I am so very sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Chris well but as a parishioner of St James, we would smile and say hello how are you. When Fr. Steve announced it at Mass on Saturday night there were quite a few gasps and oh nonsense! Chris did a lot for our parish and he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.

I think we’re all in shock. My earliest memories are of Uncle Chris– his wedding in OH, learning to tie my shoes, summers down the shore where he taught me to body surf & would say, “Rags, your lips are blue, time to go in & get warm.”
What a life, what a beautiful family. All love now and forever
Ryan
