Rose J. Angerame, 100
October 21, 2025
Rose Angerame was born in 1925 in the Bronx, the youngest child and only daughter of two Sicilian immigrants. As the first generation of her family born in America, she entered the world just in time to experience one of the most challenging times in history — the Great Depression.
Growing up and working in New York City, Rose later met the love of her life, Anthony Angerame. Together, they built a life that embodied the American Dream. From humble beginnings, they worked hard, owned a gas station, bought a home, and raised their beloved daughter, Diane, who was the center of their world.
Rose spent many years working as a secretary and later as a credit analyst for Sears. Through their determination and perseverance, she and Anthony helped change the course of their family’s future, benefiting from — and contributing to — the promise of post–World War II America, the era of the Greatest Generation.
Family was always at the heart of Rose’s life. She took great joy in being part of her family’s milestones, especially in her close relationship with her grandson, Jimmy. Her life was also touched by deep loss — she and Anthony outlived their daughter, Diane, who passed away after her second battle with cancer. Years later, Rose also said goodbye to Anthony when he lost his fight with Alzheimer’s.
Even in her later years, Rose’s strength and independence never wavered. True to her proud Sicilian spirit, she continued working at and driving herself to her part-time job at the local library until the age of 94, and she lived on her own until she was 99.
Rose passed peacefully at 100 years old on October 21st, surrounded by love. In her final months, she was deeply grateful to be close to her grandson and his family — and especially the time she got to spend with her great-granddaughter, Lane Diane.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
