William J. Bills, Jr., 74

October 15, 2025

William J. Bills, Jr., 74, of Lititz and formerly of Piscataway New Jersey, stepped into the arms of Jesus on October 15, 2025 in Lancaster, PA.

He was the husband of Karen A. Bills (Donaghy), with whom he shared 49 years of marriage this past June 26th. Born in Irvington, NJ, he was the son of the late William J. Sr. and Jeannette Bills (Handschuh).

Bill had worked as a teacher and Athletic Director at the Timothy Christian School for 44 years in Piscataway, NJ where he enjoyed working with many students and athletes over 4 decades. In 2014, he was inducted into the NJSCA Hall of Fame after amassing 1,000+ career wins coaching soccer, basketball, and baseball.

Subsequent to his retirement from teaching, Bill enjoyed attending the athletic events for his 4 grandchildren, and driving courtesy cars for Jones. He enjoyed golf and badminton, and was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.

Bill attended Grace Church of Lititz.

In addition to his wife, Karen, he is survived by his son Matthew married to Erin Bills of Lititz, PA; his 4 grandchildren Riley, Madison, Tyler, and Lydia; his sister Lynda Semonchick of Loveland, CO; his mother in law Anna Donaghy, his brother in law Craig (Janis) Donaghy, and his sister in law, Diane (Allan) Gibson.

Relatives and friends will be received by Bill’s family on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 10-11AM at Grace Church, 501 W. Lincoln Avenue, Lititz, PA, with the Memorial Service to follow at 11AM. All are welcomed to attend a light lunch immediately following the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christian education where Bill dedicated most of his life.

Karen, Matt, Erin-  My deepest condolences. Bill meant so much to me  and my family. He was a mentor to Drew and Nikki who both played sports at TCS under his coaching .Later he became a friend and listening ear to me as I ran the Tigers Den and he was right there in the gym at TCS teaching and coaching. We joked about how we were ” old school” and how the world had changed. He and you too Karen left a Hole that was hard to fill when you retired. I think often about the good old days when ” the Bills”. where there in the gym. Bill was a good and faithful servant and your loss is Heavens great Gain ! Much love to you all. Karla Elsaesser

So sorry about Bill’s passing. I worked with him at Jones, he always brought a smile, a box of Dunkin’ Donuts, great stories about his coaching, but most of all how he loved running around with his grandkids to all their sporting events, and dog sitting, and spoke lovingly of his family. Only knew him for a few years, but my life is better for knowing him! May he rest in eternal peace!Mo Pierzga
