James G. Seton, 95

James G. Seton, 95, died at home on October 9, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born in Tampa, FL, the only child of Florence Vanderslice and George J Seton. Jim was the devoted husband of Eileen Jennings for 64 years.
Jim attended Jacksonville Beach Elementary and Fletcher High Schools in Neptune Beach, Florida, and graduated from Haverford High School in Havertown, Pennsylvania. Jim started college at Drexel Univ. and transferred to Penn State, where he graduated with a BS in Metallurgy in 1954. He worked for Westinghouse Atomic Power at the power plant for the submarine,” Nautilus”. Jim worked for, and retired from, Armstrong World Industries’ Central Engineering. He was a registered Professional Engineer.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by children Carol, William, Robert and wife Gina (Scoville), David, and Linda, wife of Michael Murphy. He is also survived by ten grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pa”: Madeline, Nora, Jack, Rory, Kate, Jennings, Teagan, Maggie, Maura, Seamus. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Maeve Murphy.
Jim was an Eagle Scout with Silver Palm. He enjoyed flintlock hunting and built three long rifles. With five kids on the swim team, he served as a swimming official for many years. He progressed through certification by USS through National Championship level. Jim enjoyed genealogy and worked on his family tree for over fifty years, accumulating over 1,400 names. Jim and Eileen were active members of a gourmet dinner group for almost 60 years where they made many lifelong friends. He was well admired for his cooking and extraordinary pie baking. He also enjoyed spending time outside on his deck, in the sunshine, and connecting with the animals who recognized his gentle nature. He was an animal lover, especially of dogs, and was known to always have a treat in his pocket for his granddogs.
Jim was a founding member of Alpha Phi Omega, a Boy Scout service fraternity at Drexel University, and a member of the Epsilon chapter of Delta Sigma Phi social fraternity at Penn State. He still enjoyed watching Penn State football games.
Jim was a founding member of St Leo the Great Catholic Church, where he served for many years as an extraordinary minister. He had a strong Catholic faith which he lived daily.
He will be greatly missed by his family. Friends and family may visit with Jim’s family on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 10 AM to 11AM at St Leo the Great Church, 2427 Marietta Ave. Lancaster, Pa. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local PBS station, Doctors Without Borders, or St Jude’s Hospital for Children.

Linda, Michael, Nora and Kate, we are so very sorry for the loss of you father and grandfather. What a special, much loved man he was. Leaving behind such a legacy of a wonderful, loving family. He truly lived a full and meaningful life. God rest his soul. We are all thinking of you in this difficult time. Love you all. The Weiland family.
