George H. Mecleary, 95

George H. Mecleary, 95, of Lititz, passed away on October 1, 2025.

He was the husband of Stephanie M. Magda Mecleary, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage this past May 27th. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Walter and Gertrude Schneider Mecleary.

George had worked for 38 years for State Farm Insurance Company as a claims adjuster, both in the Philadelphia and Lancaster areas.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Lititz.

George was a very talented woodworking, creating furniture for his home. His great eye for detail and careful effort helped him make items were of great quality. He loved to read, enjoying books about military history, submarines, and airplanes. He enjoyed the water and had his own boat at one time, but the greatest interest he had was for trains and railroad history, as a collector of model trains and creating layouts.

In addition to his wife, Stephanie, he is survived by his children: Virginia married to Nelson Gilfillan of Lebanon, TN, Laurie married to Lee Rosenau of Ocean City, NJ, and Christopher married to Ann Mecleary of Tuckerton, NJ as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, George Mecleary, Jr.

Friends will be received on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 10-11AM at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave., Lititz, PA, with the Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will follow in Witness Park Cemetery.
