James Clair Sensenig, 91

James Clair Sensenig passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the United Zion home in Lititz, PA on September 29, 2025. Born on September 17, 1934, he was the son of the late James and Irene Clair Sensenig of Lititz, PA and husband of Patricia O’Brien Sensenig with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage in August.
A graduate of Lititz High School in 1952, he was a three-star letterman in football, basketball and baseball from 1948-1952 and was also a member of the bowling team, winning many trophies.
He graduated from West Chester State College in 1956 with a B.S. in Education and is a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a math teacher at various high schools in the region including Oxford, Penn Manor and Ephrata from 1958-1985.
He was very involved with community service and was a member and past president of the Lititz AMBUCS club that supports people with disabilities along with the Warwick Community Ambulance Association. As a member of AMBUCS in the 1970’s and ‘80’s, he enjoyed acting and singing in the local plays AMBUCS put on whose proceeds benefited the community.
He was an avid tennis player, golfer and was known to have the highest score at bowling outings with his friends and family. He played golf into his 90th year.
He had many cherished friendships during his nine decades living in Lititz, PA. He was a regular customer at Dosie Dough for his vanilla mocha latte and also enjoyed Rosie burgers and listening to live music at venues around the area. He was also a member of St. James Catholic Church in Lititz, PA.
He is preceded in death by siblings, Barry Sensenig, Patsy Becker and Audrey Balmer; survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Sensenig, siblings Lois Ross, Virginia Koser and Bob Sensenig (Sharan), and sister-in-law, Geraldine Alley; children David Sensenig of Bedford, VA, and Karen Sensenig Gallagher of Lititz, PA; grandchildren Jacob, Josh and Isabel Sensenig, and Elyse and Michael Gallagher.
The family would like to thank the staff at the United Zion Home for their attentive care and compassion over the past few months.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Avenue, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received from 10AM until the time of service.
