Florence M. Snyder, 87
August 11, 1938 - August 30, 2025
Florence M. Snyder, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Saturday morning, August 30, 2025.
She was born on August 11, 1938, in Nanticoke Luzerne County. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Marie Wisniewski. Florence cherished over 40 years of marriage with the love of her life, the late Howard Snyder.
Florence graduated from Greater Nanticoke Area High School in 1956 and honorably served her country as a member of the US Army Reserves in the early 1960s. She continued to care for her community as a Registered Nurse, with credentials in New Jersey, Florida, and Pennsylvania, most notably at Community Hospital of Lancaster, and at May-Grant and Associates.
Florence loved her many pet cats and was devoted to caring for countless strays. She was a member of Saint Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a passionate fan of NASCAR and followed Philly sports teams. Florence found joy traveling and watching sunrises and sunsets on the beach, and she especially loved spending time with her granddaughters.
She is survived by her two loving sons, Robert F. Snyder (Betty Quintanilla) of Lancaster, and Stephen D. Snyder (Milinda) of Elizabethtown. In addition to her sons, are her two beloved granddaughters, Natalie Snyder, of Lancaster, and Belytha Snyder, of Bakersfield, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Marie Wisniewski, and her husband Howard Snyder, Sr.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway E, Lancaster, PA 17602.
