Charles D. Graybill, 89
September 07, 2025
Charles D. Graybill, 89, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Penn State Health Lancaster. Born in Holtwood, PA, he was the son of the late Mary E. (Brubaker) and Charles P. Graybill.
He was the loving husband of Eddilene A. Graybill and was previously married to the late Joyce E. (Fulton) Graybill, who passed away in 2003.
Charles was a man of faith and service. A former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hummelstown, he became an active member of Lancaster Moravian Church after moving back to Lancaster, where he faithfully served on the Unified Board and greeted members and visitors with a warm smile. He was known for his generosity and willingness to help others, whether serving on mission trips or lending a hand to neighbors with repairs and projects.
He worked as an Electrician and later as an Electrical and I&C Estimator, retiring in 1998 from GE. Following retirement, Charles dedicated much of his time to mission work. He participated in numerous trips, including serving the Navajo Reservation and helping rebuild communities impacted by Hurricane Katrina, among many others. He also served as a board member of the Daystar Center for Spiritual Recovery in Harrisburg, where he shared his skills on the facilities committee.
Charles was proud of his involvement in the Masonic fraternity. He was a Past Master of the former Spring Creek Lodge #802 F&AM in Hershey and was currently an active member of Prince Edwin-Spring Creek Lodge #486 F&AM in Middletown.
Above all, Charles loved his family. In addition to his wife, Eddilene, he is survived by his children: Brenda K. Hoerner (Fred Thomas) of Highspire; Bruce A. Graybill, husband of Linnea, of Hummelstown; and Brian C. Graybill, husband of Brook, of Duncannon. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Cindy Kneisley, wife of Dennis, of Zionsville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sister, Erma Herr, and his sister, Janet Cromwell, wife of Edward.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce; his son-in-law, John Hoerner; and siblings Betty Sinclair and Esta Weiler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lancaster Moravian Church, PO Box 1327 Lancaster, PA 17608.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Gamber Auditorium, Woodcrest Villa, 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster. Family and friends will be received from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
Charles will be remembered for his faith, his generosity, and the countless lives he touched”

My family experienced Charlie’s generosity first-hand. As members of the Lancaster Moravian Church during its days in Eden, my grandparents Jean and Ken Pyne became friendly with the Graybills, among others. Their Moravian Church family was always welcoming and pleasant. Charlie was especially helpful as both grandparents’ health declined. He assisted in taking them to medical appointments among other helpful favors. Thank you so much Charlie for your friendship! – Appreciatively, Dana Pyne

What an honor to have known Charlie, words cannot describe what an impact he had on my life! From his servant’s heart and his uncompromising character in life and in his business dealings, he has been an inspiration to me. Mike Thrasher

Dear Eddi and family,
My sincere sympathy for you all in the loss of Charlie, so beloved and respected by all of us for his example as a faithful Christian and friend along with all the other rolls he filled in his life.
Unfortunately, I will be in Arizona next Saturday with my daughter, a trip planned months ago, so will miss the celebration of his life. Please know I will be in touch when I return and praying for for you in the days and months as you walk on…not really alone, but lonely for him, even though I’m sure happy it wasn’t a painfully long ‘so long’.
Love, Priscilla Weidman
