James D. “Jim” Groff, 78
August 22, 2025
The family of James D. “Jim” Groff are saddened to announce his passing on August 22, 2025, at Hospice & Community Care, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Paul and Susan Groff. He shared over 42 years of love and memories with his devoted wife, Joyce (Eager) Groff.
Many remember Jim for his countless years as an installation and mechanical engineer as a certified tool maker and being known as the guru of blast freezing in the ice cream industry. Starting his career at AMP, where in 1970 he received the Apprentice Journeyman Award, then transitioned to Tri Corporation, where his life with Joyce began, before venturing on his own as business owner and operator of J & G Precision Machine. Much of his career was spent traveling the world which he became fond of.
In his leisure, he enjoyed tinkering and fixing anything he could get his hands on, owning racehorses, playing and sharing his love of golf with his family, and traveling the US with Joyce.
He will be sorely missed by his wife Joyce of Lititz, children, Tracey Groff of Elizabethtown, and Juliet Groff (Keith Graham) of Elizabethtown, siblings, John Groff (Carol) of Greensboro, NC, and Sue Hill of Myerstown, a sister-in-law, Linda Groff of Elizabethtown, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his siblings, Paul Groff, Warren Groff, and George Groff (Joan).
A funeral service honoring Jim’s life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 W. Orange St. Lititz, PA 17543, beginning at 11 AM. The family will greet guests from 10 AM until the service. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice and Community Care.
