Randy L. Jenkins, 78

June 15, 1947 - August 20, 2025

With profound sorrow and reverence, we announce the passing of Pastor Randy L. Jenkins, age 78, who entered eternal rest on August 20, 2025, following a battle with brain cancer. Born on June 15, 1947, in Decatur, Illinois, Randy dedicated his life to serving God. Ordained in 1983, his pastoral ministry spanned over 35 years, touching countless lives with his unwavering faith and compassionate heart.

Randy devoted himself to reaching others with a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and discipling them in their spiritual growth. In addition to pastoring the local church, Randy completed missions’ trips to Haiti and New Mexico. He was also blessed by an opportunity to visit the Holy Land with other church leaders, an experience he held dear.

Randy worked passionately in support of Churches of God, General Conference initiatives. For him, a highlight of these efforts was his time serving as director for Camp Maranatha, ensuring the children and youth attending there had the opportunity to meet, and be drawn closer to, Jesus. He also held various commission appointments within the Eastern Regional Conference.

Randy loved spending time with family, often tinkering and working on cars with his sons. He enjoyed watching, attending, and in his younger years driving in, stock car races. In later years, he traded his need for speed for the simple joy he found in mowing the grass.

Randy’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him including his wife of 59 years, Esther (Haas) Jenkins, their sons, Bryan (Kim) Jenkins of Leola, Sean (Jess) Jenkins of Myerstown, Jeremy (Sherry) Jenkins and Jason (Bekah) Jenkins, all of Lancaster, a brother, Keith Jenkins (Diane) Decatur, IL, 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his parents, George “Gordon” and Wilma Jenkins, and siblings, Carol Mayberry, Roger Jenkins, and Danny Jenkins.

In honor of Randy’s life, a visitation will be held at Grace Community Church of Willow Street (GCC), 212 Peach Bottom Rd. Willow Street, PA 17584 on August 30, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM. A burial ceremony will follow at Conestoga Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Randy’s name to Camp Maranatha, campmaranatha.org or the Legacy Fund at GCC (address above).

Randy Lynn Jenkins had a servant’s heart, and he will be greatly missed by those fortunate enough to have known him. He strived to love like Christ; may his memory inspire us all to do the same.

Sorry for your great loss family! Randy was a very special guy! He and I went to Israel together in 1988. He was late getting to Chicago and we made the light.  I was sweating it and here he came running through the airport like OJ Simpson’s commercial.  We had a great time.   I think he called Ester every night. He truly loved his family.  He bought a huge Nativity Set and crammed it in his suitcase, I think he left half of his clothes in the Holy Land.  He left a mark on my Ministry by being my Brother in Christ. hw is probably forming Commissions in Heaven even as I write this.  Love you all !. So sorry for you and your family’s loss Esther. We had the honor of Randy marrying us. I Still remember when Leonard and I were rehearsing our vows and I “heard Randy say “You gerri love Leonard like the weather”?? Oh, I thought he said those exact words. But he really said Gerri love Leonard like no other! Not the weather! Oh my we all laughed. Leonard and I are so grateful for all the love and care you both showed to Leonard and I. From the Haiti trip, Poconos Racetrip, to Esther and you introducing us to each other 32 years ago. God bless you all. Gerri and Leonard Pickel

I’m so sorry for your loss. Randy was such an authentic person who deeply loved Christ. I got to know him by serving with him on commissions in the ERC and attending a few conferences with him. He was funny, honestly told you what he thought and was so refreshing to be with as a person. I will miss him as a dear friend and brother in the Lord. He was salt of the earth! He made pastors and the church proud by the way he lived. He was a doer of the word.I pray God’s peace and comfort for you all at this time.

Randy, Esther and the boys were our neighbors in Assumption, Illinois.  The boys came over to walk beans or play basketball with our son John.  What a wonderful couple to be neighbors with.

Randy had a lot of friends back here in Kansas.  I used to take he and Keith to school every morning in my Dad’s old 40 Chevy.  We were members of the CGYA Youth Group at the First Church of God, Fort Scott, KS.  We both were active in the YouthGroup with its many activities.  His Dad, Jordan, was my Pastor until I went away to college.
What joy to have known Randy and Esther.  They had a servants heart and loved the Lord dearly.  We live in the hope that we will see Randy again.   Chuck Golladay
