July 18, 2025
Greg Elbert, 61, of Tres Piedras, NM, beloved brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, passed away Friday July 18 of natural causes.
Born in Lancaster PA, he was the son of Anne and William Elbert Jr, he was the second oldest of four children. He was mom’s favorite. He graduated from JP Mccaskey HS in 1982.
Greg was a talented artist, working mostly in oil paints. He graduated from Pennsylvania School of Art & Design in Lancaster. He was known to generously gift his paintings and other works to family and friends.
He absolutely loved living in the Taos, NM, area. There, he found a work-life balance that allowed him to do all the things he loved. If you visited him, he would take you on great adventures. He was an excellent tour guide.
Greg held many jobs throughout his life. Most recently he worked for Taos Mesa Brewing.
He was always ready to lend a hand. He could make you laugh, especially when you really needed it. We will miss his kindness, his humor, and his insightful views of the world and human nature.
He enjoyed hiking, kayaking and bicycling, and would sometimes do all three in one day. He loved cats. Greg was a skilled chess player and enjoyed other board games like Axis and Allies. He was a good mechanic and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed film, television and reading.
Greg is survived by his sisters Maureen Beiler, wife of Wayne; and Monica Elbert; aunt Agnes Haines; all of Lancaster; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and all his Taos area and Lancaster area chosen family. He loved you all so much.
Greg was preceded in death by his brother Christopher Elbe1i, husband of Mary.
