Mary Frances Schreiner, 83

August 07, 2025

Mary F. Schreiner “Sis”, 83 of Lancaster, PA died peacefully on August 7, 2025. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Pius W. Schreiner and Mary E. (Walton) Schreiner. She was a devoted sister to Marie and Helen Schreiner with whom she shared all her living life. They were inseparable and did everything together.

Mary attended St. Joseph Elementary School. In 1959, she graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School. She attended Millersville University where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Mary went on to teaching at St. Joseph School and Resurrection for 42 years. She dedicated her life to educating her students. She taught all grades from second to eighth.

Mary led a vibrant life practicing her faith. The Franciscan Nuns were her mentors over the years. A devout Catholic, she was a Parishioner of St. Joseph Church. She taught CCD and prepared students for the sacrament of Penance and the Eucharist. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, Auxiliary Member of the Legion of Mary and Perpetual Adoration participant at St. Joseph Chapel. In 2019, she was the first to be awarded Lancaster Catholic High School Alumni Citation for Advancement of Catholic Education.

Mary was often described as the “Sticker Lady”. Students were happy to receive one. Whenever family, relatives or friends had special days, she sent cards with the appropriate sticker theme. She enjoyed spending time reading the newspaper and watching Hallmark Movies with her sisters.

Sad to see the passing of Miss Schreiner. She was one of my favorite teachers. Firm but fair. The last I saw her was at my mom’s funeral in 2008. She made a difference in alot of young lives. Great lady!
