August 03, 2025
Margaret “Peggy” F. Burke, 85, of Lititz, PA, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025. Born in New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Rowley) Collins. She was the beloved wife of the late David J. Burke Jr., with whom she shared over 40 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2000.
Peggy and her family moved to Lititz in the mid-1970s, where she quickly became a cherished member of the community. Peggy loved her customers, often greeting them outside of work and getting to know them personally.
Peggy had a generous and giving heart. Whether it was a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful trinket, or one of her beautifully handmade afghans, she never missed a chance to show love and appreciation through her gifts. A devout Catholic, she was a faithful member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church since 1976 and firmly believed in the power of prayer. She regularly brought baked goods, drinks, and handcrafted afghans to the Dominican Sisters of Lancaster as part of her devotion her faith.
Above all, Peggy adored her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them, from simple outings to trips together. Peggy was always a calm force and never allowed things to bring her down.
Peggy is survived by her loving children, Kevin Burke (Laura) and David Burke (Connie); her cherished grandchildren, Jordan Burke, Connor Burke, Mackenzie Burke, Matthew Burke (Jennifer), Patrick Burke (Abbie) Benjamin Burke and Sean Burke; and her great-grandchildren, Saiorse and Ozzy. As a constant shopper at Stauffers in Lititz, it was always a delight to see and talk to Peggy. She always had a smile on her face. If anyone had asked me when you think of Stauffers, what employees come to mind that made your day, there would be a handful up in Lititz, and she would definitely be one. I will miss seeing her.
