James H. Algoe, 76

James H. Algoe, 76, of Apple Valley, CA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the home of his sister, Alice, in Newmanstown, PA, where he lived for the past 2 months.
James was born at home on August 29, 1948. He was the son of the late Warren H. Algoe and Molly Jane (Miller) Algoe.
James graduated from Red Bank Valley High School, New Bethlehem, PA, in the class of 1967. After High School graduation he attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a four-year degree in Criminology. From there he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. After serving 2 years in the Air Force, he accepted a position as a probationary officer in the County of San Bernardino, CA. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Dianne (Akers) Algoe. They celebrated 49 years together before her passing in 2024.
James was raised on the family farm in Truittsburg, PA and enjoyed gardening and farming his whole life. Through the years he and Diane ventured into show rabbits and chickens along with his green thumb of fruit trees and flowers. Both he and Diane had a love for dogs and had many throughout the years.
James was active in his church and enjoyed giving to others, which was something that he cherished.
He is survived by 3 siblings Dwight (Sarah) of Mount Joy, Alice Roush of Newmanstown, and Bobby of Newmanstown; 2 nieces: Erin (Chip) Geib and Emily (Jeff) Harry; 4 great- nephews: Benny, Colin, Jeremy, Noah; a great-niece, Ava; and a great-great niece, Caroline.
James also had a close relationship with a neighbor boy, Steven, while living in California. He was also very close to his wife’s nephew, Danny, of Michigan, with whom he and Diane spent many years together.
After the passing of his wife, James became a regular Starbucks customer. There he met and became close friends with many of the employees. His close friends Etta and Tony, Mike and Linda, and many church members had a special place in his heart.
There will be a private celebration of life at his sister’s farmette in Newmanstown.
