Stephanie Nicole Mastriania, 34
July 28, 2025
Stephanie Nicole Mastriania passed away peacefully at Hospice and Community Care Center on July 28, 2025, under the loving care of the Sunflower Pediatric Hospice Team and surrounded by her family.
Steph is survived by her parents, Pamela Brooks, and Charles (Wendy) Mastriania, her brothers, Justin (Emily) Fisher, Kyle (Megan) Mastriania, Tony Mastriania, her sister Ciara Mastriania, as well as her Nan Myrna, aunts, uncles, and six cousins. She is preceded in death by her Pappy, and aunt Sherry Mastriania-Herr.
Born prematurely at 28 weeks, Steph entered this world with a fighting spirit that she carried throughout her life. She was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which came with a multitude of additional diagnoses, complications, surgeries, and hospital stays. These, however, never stopped her from living a full and beautiful life with her family, friends, and loved ones. Her name quickly became synonymous with squeals of joy, cheeky smiles, and pure sunshine.
In 1996, Steph became co-ambassador for Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center, alongside Kyle Kauffman. Go Rubber Duckie Race! She went on to graduate from Solanco School District and the IU13s school to work program. A special thank you to her favorites, Mr. Pizzo (teacher), Pam Wise (aide), and Vicki Kipp (bus driver throughout the years) for making her time there so special. After graduating, she attended Adult Enrichment, where she enjoyed a variety of activities and building many wonderful friendships.
To know Steph was to love Steph. She was well known across Strasburg, Lancaster County, Shreiber Pediatric Rehab Center, and other hospital facilities. She was known for being able to make you smile and light up a room, even on her worst days. There wasn’t a single space she entered that she didn’t leave better than she found it. She was a lover of all things Super Mario, Go Fish, Taylor Swift, Family Feud, Turkey Hill Iced Tea, shopping for clothes in her trademark colors purple and pink, peanut butter desserts, and anything and everything Oreos. She even had a stint of fame on TikTok with her brother, Kyle, bringing smiles and laughter to people across the globe. People would often say Steph was lucky to have her family, but we would argue we were the lucky ones. She taught us all what really matters, how to love unconditionally, and to see all the beauty and joy in even the simplest things.
There are countless people and organizations we would love to thank. The surrounding community, Scott Martin’s office, Todd Weiss, Lancaster Newspaper, as well as John Walk. Her Sunflower Pediatric Hospice team and all the hospice care members who always made sure to give Steph their highest care. Leo DiSanto, who filled Steph’s days with beautiful music while she squealed along, both with live performances and his CDs. United Disability Services, for Steph’s custom wheelchair and house modifications, which allowed her to live in her home as an independent young woman with disabilities. A special thank you to Pam Daughton, Steph’s aide, and best friend since 2012. Steph always looked forward to Pam coming to brighten her day, playing countless hours of Nintendo Switch, and watching wheel of fortune, all while listening to Taylor Swift on an endless loop. Some would consider Pam a friend, but to us she was family. Pat Hess with Martha’s Circle of Friends through Strasburg Presbyterian Church, for a continuous supply of red velvet cakes and friendship. Walter Aument Medical Center for many years of personalized care. Dupont Hospital for Children in Dupont, Delaware, for countless surgeries that made her life more comfortable. Lancaster General Hospital for caring for her during her most recent stays. Dr. Harle, Neurologist, for keeping her seizure free and enjoying a high quality of life. Gabby Bilheimer of Collective Beauty, for making house visits to make sure Steph’s hair was always in style and making her feel beautiful. All the wonderful people who sent Steph cards, drawings, plushies, and gifts that covered an entire room of walls that made her feel surrounded by so much love. The Strasburg Postal Service, who made sure all her mail and packages were delivered to brighten her days complete with smiles as she announced “Mailman!” Steph also made lifelong friends throughout the special needs community who made her life extra special, Carly Long and Kate Manners who are still with us, and others like Chuckie Magee who have passed on. We have hoped to include everyone we wanted to thank above, but there are so many people who have touched Steph’s life and made it the beautiful journey it was. We thank you fully from the bottom of our hearts.
It was through countless donations and community outreach that Steph was able to enjoy the quality of life she deserved. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you consider donating to Steph’s GoFundMe, Hospice and Community Care Center, or a charity of your choosing that has personally touched you. Steph is leaving a legacy of love, hope, strength, determination, and pure joy. We know that your donations will help that legacy live on and reach others in our community, just like our beloved Steph.
A Celebration of Stephanie’s Life will be held at 1PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Family and friends will be received from 11AM-1PM at the funeral home on Saturday.
