June 22, 2025
Frederick B. Kurtz, 88, of Lititz, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 22, 2025, at the Veterans Hospital in Lebanon.
Born on August 25, 1936, in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late Elizabeth Blair Kurtz and the late Julius Frederick Kurtz. Fred was the beloved husband of Rosalee Kurtz, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.
As a young man, Fred attended Arlington Church of Christ, where he was baptized and developed the faith that would guide him throughout his life. At the age of 19, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country from 1955 to 1957. Shortly after his service, he married Rosalee Roberts on February 20, 1957, beginning a lifetime of love and partnership.
Fred retired as a quality control inspector for the government, a career marked by his dedication to detail and commitment to excellence. In retirement, Fred pursued his passion for traveling the country by train with Rosalee, capturing memories with his love of photography. He was an active member and officer of the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS) for many years, combining his interests in trains, history, and community.
Fred cherished time spent with his loved ones, building lasting memories at family gatherings, traveling with his wife to visit relatives and cherished friends who didn’t live close.
Fred will be deeply missed by his wife, Rosalee; his daughter, Anne Wilson, wife of Randy Wilson of Lancaster; and his sons, Frederick Kurtz Jr., husband of Sherri Kurtz of Mount Joy, and James Roy Kurtz, husband of Vicki Kurtz of Columbia. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many dear friends. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by granddaughter Shelby Anne Myers.
Interment with Military Honors will take place at Conestoga Memorial Park.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Fred’s funeral service on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 330pm at Conestoga Valley Church of Christ, 2045 Horseshoe Road, Lancaster. A reception will follow immediately afterwards.
