Joann Taylor, 70

June 13, 2025

Joann Taylor, 70, of Lancaster, PA, passed away at her residence on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Joann was born in Philadelphia to the late John and Mary (Blake) Taylor.

Joann spent many years building a career she was proud of, beginning with Verizon and later contributing her talents to Lancaster General Medical Group and Neurological Associates. Even in retirement, she continued to connect with people, most recently working part-time at Carter’s, where her humor, quick wit, and straight-shooting personality left a lasting impression on both customers and coworkers alike.

A true lover of the classics, Joann found comfort and joy in the suspenseful twists and clever storytelling of mystery shows like Murder, She Wrote, Law & Order, CSI, Anything Stephen King, Midsomer Murders, and The Twilight Zone. Her ideal evening was simple but perfect: a chilled glass of wine in hand, a beloved mystery show playing in the background, and the company of those she loved nearby.

Joann had a rare gift for creating spaces of warmth, laughter, and belonging. Her deck became a sacred gathering place—whether for holidays, birthdays, or Sunny Saturday cookouts with food lovingly prepared and conversation flowing, she brought people together not just with her cooking, but with her humor, her sharp one-liners, and her honest, welcoming nature. Hosting was her love language, and those lucky enough to know her knew that a seat at Joann’s table meant you’d be fed, listened to, teased a little—and above all, loved.

She was a woman of depth, with an insatiable love for books and learning, and a strong appreciation for life’s simple joys. Her minimalist approach to living was not about having less—it was about making more room for what truly mattered: people, experiences, and love.

Joann had one child, her son Justin Blake Taylor, whom she loved beyond measure. He was her pride and purpose, the center of her universe. Their bond was unwavering, and the love she poured into him—and later, into her grandchildren—was the foundation of her life. Her presence in their lives was a guiding force—steady, loving, and unforgettable.

She is survived by her son, Justin and wife (Ashlyn) Taylor; her siblings, Sandra Taylor Davis, Frederic “Rickie” Taylor, Lynda Taylor Strand, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Taylor; and her grandchildren, Haidyn and Jase Taylor. She was welcomed into eternity by her parents, her brothers John “Johnnie” Taylor, Jr., James “Jimmy” Taylor, and Robert “Bobby” Taylor; and her grandchild, Rowan Taylor.

A time to honor and celebrate Joann’s life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, with visitation from 1PM to 3PM at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584, followed by a Memorial Service at 3PM.

Though she may no longer walk among us, Joann’s laughter, her love, and her spirit will echo forever in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her.

JoAnn was one of the most genuine people you could ever meet. I will definitely miss her laugh. To have JoAnn as a friend was a blessing and I miss her already.

I feel so blessed to have gotten to know Joann this past year at Carters.  Her smile and sassy sense of humor will be dearly missed by her customers and coworkers.  My daily greeting to her was always “here comes trouble” which she tolerated with great humor. My thoughts and prayers are with her family… my life is better for knowing her ❤️
