Mal Yon Choe, 70
June 17, 2025
Mal Yon Choe, 70, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025.
Born in Busan, South Korea, she was the devoted wife of Pyong Yong Choe. For 31 years, Mal Yon owned and operated Onion’s Café on North Queen Street in Lancaster City. Cooking was her passion, and she found deep joy in feeding others. Her restaurant was more than a business—it was her second home, where she poured her heart into every dish and built lasting relationships with her customers. She is survived by her husband, Pyong Yong; her children, Melanie McDaniel (married to Marc Bennett) of Steamboat Springs, CO, and Dong Choe of Lititz; and she has two living brothers and one sister.
Friends will be received by Mal’s family on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 12Noon-2PM at Charles F. Snyder Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA with the Funeral Service to follow at 2PM. Interment will follow in Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.
