Harold Robert Sollenberger, 97

June 12, 2025

Harold Robert Sollenberger, 97, of Blue Ball, Pennsylvania, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 12, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Dorothy (Studd) Sollenberger.

Harold and Dorothy might hold a record for the longest New Year’s resolution. Seventy-six years ago, they promised to love, honor and cherish one another in marriage on January 1, 1949. They kept that promise and built a family legacy along the way.

They raised three children, Carl R. Sollenberger (wife Karen Sollenberger), the late Donna Jean Heijermans (wife of Robert Heijermans), and Jere Sollenberger (married to Alyssa Sollenberger). Harold was blessed to see five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren added to their family.

Solly was an avid sportsman and hunter. His children remember their dad enjoying many family trips to the hunting cabin. His senior year of high school, Harold was the 100 yard track champion and was also the pitcher for New Holland High School’s baseball championship game.

Harold worked as a tool and die maker at Case New Holland. After work, he really enjoyed getting home to work in his vegetable garden. Many tasty meals included an assortment of veggies from his work. He also was involved in church ministry as a pianist, deacon, trustee, and Sunday School teacher.

The son of the late Harrison and Blanche Sollenberger, Harold was one of four siblings. He is predeceased by his sisters Helen Williams, Norma Moore and brother Melvin Sollenberger.

Harold spent his final days at Garden Spot Village, where he was cared for by a loving and supportive staff of caregivers.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 6 to 8 PM, at Lancaster Brethren in Christ Church, 1865 Fruitville Pike, Lancaster. From 6pm to 6:30pm will be a time of greeting with the service to begin at 6:30pm
