Ruth H. (Heide) Kane, 100

January 9, 1925 - May 13, 2025

Ruth died peacefully in her sleep on May 13, 2025, at Moravian Manor in Lititz at the age of 100.

Ruth was born January 9, 1925, in New York City to Herman L. and Gertrude (Amend) Heide. She was raised on Riverside Drive in Manhattan and in Monmouth Beach, NJ, where her family kept a summer home. She was one of nine children which included a Priest, Trappist Monk and a Sacred Heart Nun. Ruth was the last remaining sibling.

Ruth was married to her loving late husband, James F. Kane Jr., and lived in Glen Cove, NY for 60 years before moving to Lititz. She is survived by her six children, Jim (Melissa) of ME, Michael (Melissa) of VA, Maureen Bruce (Bob) of Lititz, Sheila (the late Elle) of CA, Peter (Martina) of Ireland, and Aileen Larsen (Walter) of NY, grandchildren, James, Michael, Jennifer, Meredith, Emily, Katie, Edward, Brian, Craig, and great-grandchildren, Henry, William and Everly.

Ruth loved to swim in the ocean, play bridge, tennis and golf, garden and being surrounded by her family. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Lititz.

Ruth moved into Moravian Manor Assisted Living four years ago and her family would like to especially thank her wonderful caregivers and dining staff for the exceptional care they gave her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church in Glen Cove, NY. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY.
