Condolences to the Family

Met JereJohnson in 2000 while working at the Post Office Carrier Annex. Even until 2021 when he retired, he was always JereJohnson. He was one of my favorite people to work with during my 43 years at the PO. Always upbeat and a positive influence whatever he was doing. Will miss you JereJohnson, stopped by your house the day after you passed away because I was back in PA. Regrets that I hadn’t stopped earlier. Condolences to his family and friends.

Andy and I send our heartfelt comdolences to family and friends. We are still in shock and disbelief that Jere is gone.  We are all compartmentalizing, taking one day at a time.
I was lucky to have him in my life for over fifty years. We pursued an easy banter several times a week on Bluetooth while driving.  At every party we heard “Where’s Jere?” and then “Jere’s here!”  He did like making an entrance, especially in costume!
Jere was generous with gifts as well as his time. Always willing to lend a hand whenever needed for big tasks or small. Jere had so many friends he loved and they returned it twofold.
We shared and discussed books and occasionally serious topics such as Life after Death.  Heaven should be a place you remember all the best and special days of your life.  The ones that warmed your heart, the feel of the sunshine, the first snow flake, the smell of warm cookies, the nuzzle and kisses from your dog and the joyful times with friends.
We can imagine him there now enjoying all that made him happy.  We will keep his memory in our hearts.

Jere was the only person I ever met who ALWAYS brought laughter, light, and warmth to every gathering. A great friend since high school, Jere emceed our class reunions  – and he was the perfect choice since we all loved him!! I send my condolences to Jere’s family and all his friends. Jere’s infectious goodwill and humor certainly will be mnissed by us all.
I will be out of town the day of the funeral but I will be there in spirit. Keep heaven laughing, Jere, until the rest of us see you again. Hollis (Holly) Stambaugh Butterworth

Jere was loved by everybody, truly EVERYBODY!  When Jere was around, you were having a good time.  I attended CV and graduated with Jere in 1970 and have many fond memories of attending classes, etc with him.  Always positive, always interested in how life was going for you whether in school or during the class reunions that I was able to attend over the past 50+ years.  Jere will be missed by so many people and I know every time we got to see each it was a joyful reunion!  Be at peace, Jere……

Jere was my friend for many years.
We had many laughs together (and Jere had a wonderful laugh!).
In once took him to the emergency room at Lanc General after he fell jogging with a broken arm, and ended up at my door.  It led into a very wild and bizarre “bar-room” evening that we always, for years, joked about.
When I was 13, I saw him hit a line drive baseball (Little League Game) that knocked out the 1st baseman from the apposing team.
It was my first introduction to him, and we always talked about it, as years went by, when we would occasionally seem each other.
I was fortunate that I got to see him a few times in the last year, or so.
He was a cherished, old friend… and a good person.
RIP.

I am incredably saddened by Jere’s passing.  I know of no one who spoke unkindly about him.  He was a man that lived life and enjoyed seeing others happy and most of the time he brought that happiness into the situation.  Just the kind of person that if duplicated would make this world so much better.  The class of ’70 has lost another very fine member. Unfortunately our family will be out of town the date of his memorial service but my friend may you rest in peace and may I express my sincere sympathy to the family and to those who loved him!

My mother grew up across the street from Jere, and when I was a child, he was our neighbor. Jere once dressed in a Santa suit when I was about 3, and walked down the street past our house. He left a voicemail on our home answering machine as Santa.
As a child, I always called him by his full name, “JereJohnson,” all in a single breath, like it was one word. My family still uses “JereJohnson” to speak of him sometimes in humor.
Jere was a frequent feature at holidays and parties. He came to my wedding, dressed so wonderfully I had the photographer take a portrait of him.
