Gail L. Mitchell, 74
April 30, 2025
Gail L. Mitchell, age 74, passed away at her home on April 30, 2025. Gail’s life was her family. Her beloved and devoted husband, Steve Mitchell of New Providence. Son Brandon, and wife Angie, live in Richmond, VA. Daughter Kristin Bowe, and husband Ryan, live in Glen Mills, Pa., with their children Justin and Wyatt. Gail was preceded in death by her son, Justin. Gail’s sister Cindy lives in Leesburg, Va., with her husband Thomas Harper.
Known lovingly as “Gaga” to her grandsons, she embraced her role with joy and devotion. Whether building train tracks, playing hallway soccer, or dealing cards, she was always ready to play. Never hesitating to sit on the floor and follow their lead, Gaga delighted in every moment spent with Justin and Wyatt. She especially loved shopping for them, always on the lookout for the perfect outfit or surprise. Being their Gaga was her greatest joy, and she cherished every opportunity to be by their side.
Whether she was playing golf at Meadia Heights or in Pinehurst, NC, or simply sitting outside on the patio enjoying the sun, she was always with her husband and best friend of over 52 years. They were rarely apart and were known to everyone as the perfect couple.
She used her organizational skills to plan events at Community UMC. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was so happy knowing that she would be united with Christ and her son, Justin.
Gail loved to cook. Whatever the event, she had more than enough food for everyone. Her all-star recipes were her mac n cheese and sugar & chocolate chip cookies. Her various lite bites, during our family wine tastings, were legendary.
Gail loved music and was a member of the L-S Community Band, along with her husband. She hosted the band Christmas parties and everyone loved her lasagna, both with meat and vegetarian. She had to satisfy everyone.
She loved to dance wherever there was music—whether in the kitchen, grocery store aisles, or even on tables. She was a cherished second mom and dance mom to many, from “The Fest” community to her children’s friends and countless others she embraced as her own.
Gail was always smiling. All the pictures through chemo, radiation, and after, she was always showing off her infectious grin.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Community UMC, 130 Tennyson Dr, Lancaster, PA 17602 from 10am to 11am with a service to begin at 11am. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
Omit flowers, please send contributions to the Jeff Musser Foundation or the Solanco Education Foundation.

I have known Gail for many years as a former neighbor and school classmate. We grew up as neighbors two houses away from each other and knew her sister and parents also. She was a very nice lady and always had a smile for you, very nice family also.
You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Dear Steve, Brandon, Kristin and Family,
My heart felt sympathy to you at the loss of your dear Gail! She was the most heroic person through her cancer treatment and always filled with optimism! I was blessed to know her and her kind and gentle personality as a coworker and friend! Trust me we could get rowdy! We have shared many years of memories and I will cherish them! The final goodbye is so difficult! May she rest in eternal peace!
