Sandra Lee Sahler, 85

October 22, 1939 - February 26, 2025

Mrs. Sandra “Sandy” Sahler (nee Wilker), died peacefully on Wednesday, February 26th in Willow Street, PA. A private interment with the family will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Basking Ridge, NJ.

Born in Pennsylvania to loving parents, Rita and Bernard Wilker, Sandy lived in Linden, NJ and then moved to Basking Ridge, NJ during high school. She then went to the Mountainside School of Nursing, earning her RN. She met the love of her life, Frederick Bruce Sahler, to whom she was married for 64 loving years. She followed Bruce across the country during his military service and then returned home to New Jersey. Sandy and Bruce put roots down first in Mendham, NJ and then Colts Neck, NJ where they raised their two sons Brad and Brett and built lifelong friendships. Following her nursing career, with an entrepreneur spirit in the 1980s, she created a medical billing platform.

Family and friends were the mainstay of Sandy’s life. She and Bruce treasured their time spent summer vacationing with family, first in Maine and then on Lake Champlain in Vermont. They particularly enjoyed sharing in their love for that lake with their children and grandchildren.

As empty nesters they built their dream home on the side of a mountain in Ascutney, Vermont where they resided for ten years enjoying family, friends, and the great outdoors. During this time, Sandy took up quilting. This became a love of hers, and her beautiful quilts are now being enjoyed by many different family members and friends. In 2014 they made the decision to move to the Willow Valley Retirement community so they would be closer to their loved ones.

Sandy’s smile lit up a room and her kind spirit spread joy everywhere she went. Her signature “HI-HO!” greeting, her positivity, and willingness to live in the moment will continue to live on in our hearts.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband Bruce Sahler, devoted brother, Jeffrey Wilker, and beloved sons Brad Sahler (Susan) and Brett Sahler (Tricia) as well as her beloved grandchildren Brandon Sahler (Natalia) and Sabrina Sahler. As a testament to her love and loyalty, she is also survived by many lifelong friends.

In her memory, donations can be made to the wonderful hospice service that dedicated themselves to her final care. Hospice and Community Care, Lancaster Pennsylvania. http://www.hospiceandcommunitycare.org

To honor her memory, we ask that you carry forward the light she shared with everyone she met. In that spirit, we invite you to perform an act of kindness, big or small, in her name. May her love and warmth continue to shine through each of us.

We sadly say goodbye to a longtime close friend who we knew well in both New Jersey and Vermont before her move to Pennsylvania.  Rest in peace.
