Condolences to the Family

Dear Susan and Krista – I am very saddened to now know your wonderfully loving Mother, my sweet dear friend Mary Ann has passed and I extend to you my most caring and heartfelt sympathy!!

I checked Snyder’s website yesterday to make an appointment for my own buried in Lancaster, and did truly think – ‘good when there for my appt, I’ll visit Mary Ann also!!!’  I intuitively checked recent passings and so sadly saw your Mother’s passing!

Your Mother and I were very close, dear friends in high school and when working at Armstrong’s. I moved from Lancaster in 1954, (Pittsburgh, Atlanta & Baltimore), however we always spent as much time as possible together at our wonderful class reunions, class luncheons, funerals, and we occasionally spoke on the phone. My last call to her was January 2024 to tell her of Marilyn Berger’s passing (Marilyn was a very close friend of mine and had always kept me informed of our close class friends.) Your Mother was in a rehab at the time after a fall, and we had a delightful conversation despite her situation – she was as always, cheerful and loving.  She and I always had a special closeness despite our geographic distance and we always picked up our relationship like no time had passed – a sign of a true loving friendship.  Of course, I intended to visit her after we spoke,  however  “life” does keep us “extremely busy” and sometimes priorities get off base!

Of course I knew your Dad, Gene – they were a wonderfully happy couple to know!  Your Mother always gleamed when she spoke of both of you and your children.

Sadly, I am the last of ‘our group’ of  Catholic high gals ‘still here’, however I truly believe we will all be together some day and your Mother and I will continue our loving and cherished relationship!!

With great and caring sympathy,
Joan Long Mahan

Susan and Krista,
We were sorry to hear of the passing of your mother.  Although it has been years  since you were our neighbors on Barrwick Lane, your dear mother always kept in touch once a year with  a Christmas card and a little note with what had been happening with you and the grandchildren. This past Christmas was the first that she not include a personal little note in her card. Our condolences to you and your families.
Sincerely,
Paul Lajkowicz and Albert Hamm
